Directories

Unlike a search engine which uses software (robots or spiders) to index sites, a directory is a search facility much more akin to Yellow Pages and sites are reviewed by real people who decide whether the site is worthy of inclusion and which category the site should be placed in. Yahoo and Open Directory are the two main directories with Yahoo being the most widely used search facility on the web. Details of both are found in major search engines.
